Saturday May 19

We took off from Stamp at 8:00am this morning - no one was late! The car ride was long and mostly boring, though we tried to keep ourselves occupied talking about the trip and playing games. We stopped in Connecticut for lunch and because of the size of our group, we sat on the lawn outside of the Subway. We got a lot of funny looks, waves, and even a couple pictures taken from passers-by.

Once we arrived at Jubilee house we were all very impressed with the size of the building and the hospitality being offered to us. It is a Salvation Army house that holds youth and adult programs and church services throughout the week. Justin welcomed us and gave us a tour of the place in addition to showing us our rooms; we were all happy to find that we would have a bed!

While Emily, Hanum, and Meagan made dinner, we had some down time to relax and settle in.  After dinner we had some reflection time and had the opportunity to talk about our expectations for the trip and what we aim to learn.  We also formed teams to make dinner for the remaining days of the trip.

Today was probably the most relaxing day we'll have, considering we spent most of our time in the vans.  Our trip leaders are really encouraging and kind, and we are excited for the week ahead!
